Stop or Spot the Fakes: Protecting Online Survey Research from Fraudsters
Wednesday, October 8, 2025. 10:30am – noon, Dimond Library Rm 421

Web-based data collection has been widely used in research for more than two decades. In recent years, however, online studies have increasingly become targets for fraudulent respondents—especially when monetary incentives are offered for participation. This session will review the current landscape of online research, highlight strategies researchers can use to reduce fraudulent responses, examine a case, and explore the ethical considerations involved in protecting survey research data integrity.
