COVID-19

CDC COVID-19 care recommendations:

  • There is no mandatory isolation period.
  • Individuals with respiratory illnesses are recommended to stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and their symptoms are improving.
  • Additionally, masking is recommended for 5 days when you return to normal activities.

Health & Wellness does not require students to be seen with upper respiratory symptoms as self-care is the best way to care for oneself.

For faculty, staff, and employers: Medical notes should not be required from sick students. We encourage you to work with them for missed classes due to illness.

If your symptoms require evaluation, call 603-862-9355 to speak to a nurse or make an appointment by calling or visiting our website at Appointments | Health & Wellness (unh.edu).

Prevent the Spread of COVID and Other Respiratory Infections:

  • Stay up to date with vaccination to protect people against serious illness, hospitalization, and death. This includes flu, COVID-19, and RSV, if eligible.
  • Practice good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes, washing or sanitizing hands often, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
  • Take steps for cleaner air, such as bringing in more fresh outside air, purifying indoor air, or gathering outdoors.

What do I do if I have COVID-19?

Take care of yourself like you would any respiratory illness.  You are no longer required to isolate.  Follow these recommendations.

Can I get re-infected with COVID-19 if I’ve already had it?

Yes, especially with the emergence of new variants of COVID-19.

What are the most important steps I can take to prevent the spread of illness?

Everyone can do their part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

  1. Get vaccinated. It is the best way to prevent serious illness to you personally and helps to reduce transmission of COVID-19.
  2. Stay home when you experience symptoms (coughing, runny nose, sore throat, fever, etc.).
  3. Wash your hands! Scrub for 20 seconds. Regular soap and water are best, and hand sanitizer is a good alternative.
  4. Wear a mask: Wearing a mask offers an extra layer of protection from respiratory illness.

Where can I access to COVID-19 Vaccine?

Check with primary care provider or pharmacist to see if it is available for you to receive.

Where can I access COVID Test?

You can purchase rapid COVID test at a local pharmacy, Walmart, Target, or Amazon.

How does COVID-19 spread?

“COVID-19 spreads when an infected person breathes out droplets and very small particles that contain the virus. These droplets and particles can be breathed in by other people or land on their eyes, noses, or mouth. In some circumstances, they may contaminate surfaces they touch. People who are closer than 6 feet from the infected person are most likely to get infected.” Asymptomatic people who are infected but do not show symptoms are able to spread the virus to others. (CDC)
