COVID-19 Test Kit Pickup Oct. 25-29

October 20, 2021

Dear Members of the Durham Community—

COVID test kit distribution will be Monday, Oct. 25 through Friday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Whittemore Center. If you test weekly or are a biweekly tester who does not have at least two test kits left, you need to pick up more tests. Testing schedules are altered due to Thanksgiving, please read this email carefully and in its entirety.

Please pick up kits on your college’s assigned day if possible; this is for faculty, staff and students. No appointment is needed. Please check how many barcoded labels you have left prior to coming to the Whittemore Center. If you are unable to pick up kits on your assigned day or are not connected to a specific college you can pick up kits any day, Oct. 25-29.

    • Monday, Oct. 25: College of Health & Human Services
    • Tuesday, Oct. 26: College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Continuing Education, Carsey School, NRESS, interdisciplinary grad, no college designated
    • Wednesday, Oct. 27: College of Liberal Arts
    • Thursday, Oct. 28: College of Life Sciences & Agriculture and Thompson School
    • Friday, Oct. 29: Paul College of Business and Economics

  • Drop boxes will close Monday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. They will not reopen until Monday, Nov. 29 at 7 a.m.
  • There will be no required testing the week of Thanksgiving. If you would like to submit a test Monday, Nov. 22 you may do so.
  • If you have not uploaded a vaccine card and need access to campus Monday, Nov. 29 you must submit a test Monday, Nov. 22 to ensure an active Wildcat Pass.
  • If your biweekly testing was supposed to fall on the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 22-26) you must test the week of Nov. 29–Dec. 3 and biweekly after that.
  • If your biweekly testing was supposed to be the week after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29–Dec. 3) you must test the week of Dec. 6–Dec. 10 and biweekly after that.
  • Please refer to your Wildcat Pass for your new required testing days.

We know many of you are already making plans for after finals. A more detailed message about winter break testing will be sent after Thanksgiving. For planning purposes if you have provided proof of vaccination you will need to test once every two weeks to keep a valid WCP; if you have not you will need a test result at least every nine days. The lab will be closed the week between Christmas and New Year. Winter break kits will be available in MUB 213 after Dec 1.

In closing, we want to share an important note from the COVID lab. Please make sure you blow your nose before sampling. Excessive mucus can cause an inconclusive result. Thank you for continued support of our efforts to keep every member of our community safe.
