Modes of Operation


RED - Remote Operations

Conditions

  • COVID cases are increasing on and off campus
  • State stay at home or equivalent order
  • Medical resources are overwhelmed or at risk of being overwhelmed
  • Testing not widely available, and only for those with symptoms

Campus Status

  • Minimal operations
  • Essential staff only on campus
  • Research at 10% or less, essential only
  • No external events

Student Status

  • No on campus housing/dining other than housing insecure
  • No student events
  • All instruction remote

Faculty/Staff Status

  • All faculty and staff work remotely
    • Limited use of classroom or office space for remote instruction
  • Essential staff on campus only to maintain safety and support operations

ORANGE - Limited Operations

Conditions

  • COVID cases are increasing on or off campus
  • State restrictions are being initiated
  • Regular testing of everyone on campus
  • Medical resources are available and not at risk

Campus Status

  • Limited operations
  • Masks and social distancing required
  • Only critical research allowed onsite
  • No external events

Student Status

  • On campus housing remains open, but large-scale quarantines may be required
  • Dining continues to adhere to all CDC and NH DHHS requirements
  • No student organization events; gatherings limited to residence halls
  • Instruction restricted. Larger classes go remote if they cannot maintain 25% classroom density
  • Most classes go remote but students can stay on/off campus
  • Student-facing offices continue with limited operations (Dimond Library, Hamel Rec, etc.)

Faculty/Staff Status

  • Low density (25-30%) of faculty and staff on campus in support of student operations only

YELLOW - Restricted Operations (current situation)

Conditions

  • COVID cases are low on and off campus
  • Limited state restrictions and gatherings okay
  • Medical resources are available and not at risk
  • Frequent on-campus testing available for all, including asymptomatic

Campus Status

  • Full operations on campus with student focus
  • Masks required in public areas, classrooms and labs
  • Research enterprise operating at 90% capacity on site
  • Selective external events

Student Status

  • Campus housing open with reduced density, quarantine dorms
  • Dining normal at reduced density (50%) plus take-out
  • Student events (following COVID-19 protocols), small groups and residential communities
  • Instruction face-to-face with lower density (50% or less)
  • Teaching labs/art studios operate with full PPE

Faculty/Staff Status

  • Moderate density (50-60%) faculty and staff on campus
  • Focus on student operations, instruction and research

GREEN - Normal Operations

Conditions

  • COVID vaccine or treatment available, or no new cases
  • Testing only if new infections are found
  • No restrictions on public gatherings and events

Campus Status

  • Full face-to-face operations

Student Status

  • Student housing and dining at full density and operations
  • Classrooms and learning at full density on campus

Faculty/Staff Status

  • Normal on-campus work for all faculty and staff
  • Unrestricted on-campus work for all faculty and staff
