Support & Frequently Asked Questions
Please review the commonly asked questions below. If you need additional support, please contact your current RA/CA or hall/apartment team.
Definitely! Interviews are conducted virtually, so as long as you have Wi-Fi access you can participate.
At their base, RA roles are educational experiences and valuable skill development opportunities. To connect with residents and be successful in the role, RAs receive a furnished room in their assigned community, as well as a base (Campus Core) meal plan, at no cost to the RA.
Through the interview process we will get to know you, your strengths, and your skills. This will help us to learn where we best think you would fit as an RA. The application will ask for preferences, which are taken into consideration, but ultimately the department will make the determination as to where you will be assigned.
Don't worry about it - we will handle it all! If you accept an RA role and you already have housing for next year, we will automatically reassign you to the RA designated space in the community you are assigned. There is nothing you need to do, and you are not charged a cancellation fee for this change.
If you accept an RA role, are reassigned, and then choose to not accept the position, we can work one-on-one with you if you still want on-campus housing. We cannot guarantee that your original assignment will still be available.
Please contact Charlie Ferens, Assistant Director of Residential Life with additional questions.

Accommodations for the RA position may impact housing placement and/or position responsibilities. If you already have accommodations with Student Accessibility Services (SAS), you should reach out to SAS or CREO to ensure the accommodations are applied to the RA position. However, any accommodations shared with the RA Selection process after placements/offers are made may not be guaranteed. We recommend sharing accommodation needs directly with Charlie Ferens, Assistant Director of Residential Life, at Charlie.Ferens@unh.edu. Accommodations shared with the RA Selection process prior to Friday, January 16th will be taken into consideration prior to selection and placement. We also encourage all applicants to investigate and ask questions about the position to better understand the expectations and demands of the RA Role. Attending an Info Session or scheduling a Q&A meeting with a current hall staff member are great ways to explore the position further!
