Current residents who want to return to the residence halls or on-campus apartments must participate in the Returner Housing Selection Process. Depending on your housing requirement status, you might be applying for on-campus housing during the Fall semester, mid-October, or during the Spring semester, at the end of January. Please select the option that applies to you:
If you are unsure which category qualifies for you, please visit the On-Campus Housing Requirement page for more information. For more detailed information on the process, click one of the three steps.

Renewal For Your Current Residence Hall or Apartment
Group Self-Selection:
- Wednesday, November 1, 2023: Timeslots are distributed in the evening.
- Thursday, November 2, 2023: Choose any available room within the residence hall or apartment complex you currently live in. Your group must be able to fill the entire space. For example, if you are aiming for a five-person apartment with two double rooms and one single, then your group must have five members (one for each bed). If you are aiming for a four-person suite with two double rooms, then your group must have four members (one for each bed).
Partial Self-Selection:
- Thursday, November 2, 2023: Timeslots are distributed in the evening.
- Friday, November 3, 2023: Choose any available room within the residence hall or apartment complex you currently live in. At this time in the process, any applicant can select a specific bed in a room or suite that is available. You don't need a roommate group that can take every bed space. Spaces will be consolidated after this process if there are empty beds. You might not end up in the room number you selected, but you will be in the same type of room and area.
If you want to choose a space in a different residence hall or the on-campus apartments, wait for timeslots to be distributed for the On-Campus Apartment or Residence Hall Self-Selection processes. Please note that this portion of the process is not available for students in halls and apartments that are designated for specific populations of students (i.e. first-year only halls, second-year only halls, residential learning communities, etc.) for 2024-2025.
On-Campus Apartment and Residence Hall Self-Selection
Group Self-Selection:
- Tuesday, November 7, 2023: Timeslots are distributed in the evening.
- Wednesday, November 8, 2023 - Thursday, November 9, 2023: Choose any available space in the on-campus apartments, Gables or Woodside, or residence halls.
- Monday, November 13, 2023: Timeslots are distributed in the evening.
- Tuesday, November 14, 2023 - Wednesday, November 15, 2023: Choose any available space in the on-campus apartments, Gables and Woodside, or residence halls. At this time in the process, any applicant can select a specific bed within an apartment, suite or room that is available. You don't need a roommate group that can take every bed space. Spaces will be consolidated after this process if there are empty beds. You might not end up in the room number you selected, but you will be in the same type of room and area.
If you submit an application after the deadline or are unable to self-select a room, you will be placed on the waitlist. Please keep in mind that on-campus housing is not guaranteed for residents without a housing requirement.

Off-Campus Applicant
Students living off-campus cannot participate in the Returner Housing Selection Process unless they are part of a group where at least one applicant currently lives on-campus. If you currently live off-campus and want to join a returner's group, please contact housing.office@unh.edu.
If you are not part of a roommate group and would like to live on-campus for the upcoming academic year, please complete an On-Campus Housing Request. You will be placed on the On-Campus Housing Waitlist. If a space becomes available, the UNH Housing team will reach out to you via your UNH email. On-campus housing is not guaranteed for students without a housing requirement.
