UNH requires anyone driving a university vehicle or a rental vehicle for a university purpose to complete an approved defensive driving course prior to driving.
UNH Employees (including student workers) can complete the course in Workday using this link or searching for Defensive Driving in Workday Learning. Managers can also assign the course to their employees who are required to complete it.

Defensive Driving certification is good for three years.
Members of the general public, or anyone interested in taking the DDC for license point reduction or any other reason may inquire about live defensive driving courses by contacting the National Safety & Health Council, (800) 864-6472.
Motor Vehicle checks:
MVR checks are required for the following Individuals operating a university vehicle:
- Employees who have a vehicle assigned to them.
- Regular drivers – defined as any employee/volunteer whose job description includes driving as a responsibility, or who frequently drives a USNH owned or rented vehicle ("frequently" defined as more than 3 times month).
- Those driving distances greater than 200 miles per trip in a USNH owned or rented vehicle.
- Any employee driving a van or bus designed to carry more than 9 passengers.
- Employees who transport students regardless of distance or vehicle type.
- All non-employee students driving a USNH owned or rented vehicle.
- Any contractor or non-employee given permission to drive a USNH vehicle.
Supervisors can submit MVR requests for their employees here.
Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Search is required every three years for current employees (or annually if you have DOT requirements).
