If you just need someone to talk with, one of your options for receiving support is a Peer Ambassador (PA). These dedicated and engaged PAs are available on a drop-in basis, Monday through Thursday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at PACS (Smith Hall, 3rd Floor). Please check in at the PACS Reception Desk. For more information about Peer Support
Please note that Peer Ambassadors are a listening service, and may not be the best resource given your specific concerns or needs. If PA service is not an appropriate resource, we may refer you to a professional therapist and/or your professional therapist may decide that the Peer Ambassador Program is not in the best interest of your treatment. In these cases, the PA program coordinator or your therapist will connect with you about the best plan moving forward.
What are Peer Ambassadors?
Peer Ambassadors are here to provide active listening and promote empathy, create meaningful spaces for connection, and create moments of social connection within the campus community. PAs are trained and supported by PACS and are not a substitute for therapy. They are here to listen, support, and provide resources on topics related to everyday aspects of the student experience. Students who are in need of clinical services or are in crisis should seek a licensed professional.
How do I connect with a Peer Ambassador?
Connecting with a Peer Ambassador is easy, simply drop-in at PACS any time between 3:00-5:00 p.m. from Monday-Thursday! When you arrive, let the receptionist know you would like to meet with a Peer Ambassador.
If you have questions about the program, please contact PACS at 603-862-2090 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Peer Ambassadors Program is dedicated to improving the overall well-being and resiliency of our fellow Wildcats by serving the campus community through our outreach programming, such as wellness and mental health awareness outreach initiatives. PAs also promote PACS services across campus, and work to reduce the stigma around seeking mental health resources and services.
If you are interested in a program or workshop for your organization/club, please contact our Outreach Coordinator at (603) 862-2090 (Relay NH: 1-800-735-2964) or email@example.com if you have any questions.
