HOOT makes the transition to college easy and fun, offering first year Honors students the opportunity to make connections and build a sense of belonging in a challenging and exciting environment.

HOOT 2026

Spend 3 days/2 nights on 100+ acres of private forest at The Browne Center, UNH's partner in Innovative Learning.

Exact dates for 2026 haven't been finalized, but HOOT typically takes place in the third week of August.

"I went into HOOT feeling anxious about the transition to college, not knowing the ins and outs of how it all worked, uneasy about making friends, and finding a place where I fit in. HOOT cured all of those anxieties in the first few hours of being there."

-Raegan French, '28
