Returning to the University

Returning to UNH allows students to resume studies by re-enrolling and fulfilling any academic or administrative requirements.

Return from Leave of Absence

Students who wish to return from a Leave of Absence should review the following instructions below.

The reactivation request form must be submitted no later than 2 weeks before the semester of return begins.

Return From Leave of Absence For:Follow These Steps:
Undergraduate Students
  • Durham and Manchester students must submit a Reactivation from Leave of Absence Form to start the return/reactivation process.
  • Forms are reviewed by the student’s Dean’s Office or Director of Academic Advising based on home college.
  • If approved, students will be reinstatement into the prior major and will receive confirmation from the Registrar's Office.
  • If the student cannot return to the prior major, the Dean’s Office or Director of Academic Advising of the student’s home college will be in contact to discuss next steps.  
  • Previously enrolled students returning to UNH from a Health Leave of Absence must contact the Dean of Students Office. 
Graduate Students
  • Graduate students returning from a leave of absence can find more Information and resources on the Graduate School website.

 

Return from Academic Suspension

To return from academic suspension, students must follow the instructions below.

The reactivation request form must be submitted no later than 2 weeks before the semester of return begins.

Return From Academic Suspension For:Follow These Steps:
Undergraduate Students
  • Durham and Manchester students must submit a Reactivation from Academic Suspension Form to start the return/reactivation process.
  • CPS Online students should complete a Request to Reactivate.
  • Forms are reviewed by the student’s Dean’s Office or Director of Academic Advising based on home college.
  • Students must provide a statement explaining the steps that will be taken to ensure future academic success.
  • If approved, students will be reinstatement into the prior major and will receive confirmation from the Registrar's Office.
  • If the student no longer qualifies for reinstatement into the prior major, the request will be reviewed by the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office for reactivation into the Undeclared major.  
Graduate Students

 

Readmission after Academic Dismissal

Only under extraordinary circumstances will a student be readmitted after being academically dismissed. Consult with the former college dean prior to submitting an application for readmission to the Office of Admissions. 

CPS Online students must contact former academic advisor to discuss readmission. 

 

Former Students

Former UNH students, whose degree status at the University has been discontinued or that have withdrawn, may apply to resume studies by submitting an application for readmission.
