Many professionals are not trained to recognize and intervene when sibling rivalry, conflict, aggression, or abuse occur in a family. Families, too, are unsure how to stop harmful sibling dynamics and support positive sibling relationships. Those who have experienced sibling aggression or abuse often struggle to name and understand their experiences, which can have lifelong mental health impacts. The SAARA Initiative provides up-to-date, science-based information and resources for professionals and practitioners, parents and families, and siblings with lived experience of sibling aggression and abuse.
