Our Mission

The mission of the Sibling Aggression and Abuse Research and Advocacy Initiative (SAARA) is to increase recognition of an overlooked form of family violence: sibling aggression and abuse. Sibling aggression and abuse are more common than peer bullying and child abuse and neglect, but much less recognized. Like other forms of family violence, sibling aggression and abuse are intergenerational and negatively impact well-being and family relationships across the lifespan, making them significant public health problems. SAARA provides evidence-based guidance and training to families and professionals to prevent and stop sibling rivalry, conflict, aggression, and abuse.
