Sibling aggression and abuse are commonly assumed to be "just rivalry" and harmless. Many people assume that all siblings fight or hurt each other, and they will grow out of it. Research shows, however, that there are important differences between sibling rivalry, conflict, aggression, and abuse, and these sibling dynamics can impact well-being and relationship quality across the lifespan.
The SAARA Initiative provides up-to-date, science-based information and resources on sibling rivalry and conflict, sibling aggression and abuse, and promoting positive sibling relationships. By translating the research on these topics, we hope to make it more accessible to busy parents, siblings, and professionals.
Our expert staff members are available to provide training to any audience on these topics.
