Pre-McNair is a one-year (non-committal) program to explore what it is like to be a McNair Scholar and is open to freshmen and sophomores, only. Students who maintain strong academic performance and who complete the Pre-McNair Program successfully may by-pass the traditional application and be formally admitted to the McNair Scholars Program.

- Invitation to the McNair program, upon completion of all requirements
Requirements include mandatory attendance at:
- Pre-McNair Orientation (Offered in October during the Fall Semester)
- Cultural and Social Events (At least 1 cultural event per year)
- One Workshop in the Fall
- One Research Seminar in the Spring
- One meeting per semester with a McNair Peer Advisor
- One meeting per year with the National Fellowship Office
Deadline
Please submit your completed application package to the Pre-McNair Scholars Program, Stoke Hall, Room G50, no later than September 30th. Applications accepted after September 30th will be accepted on a rolling basis.
