Students studying abroad on Partner Programs are not covered by the UNH international travelers insurance. Many students on Partner Programs have some insurance benefits included in their provider’s program fees.
Click here for information and options.
Coverage Period
Eligible travelers’ insurance coverage will start on Official Program/Event Start Date and end on the Official Program/Event End Date.
Eligible Travelers will not be covered for personal travel time before or after the official program dates, unless included as a Sojourn Travel Benefit.
Because travelers are only covered outside the U.S., domestic coverage must be maintained to ensure continuation of coverage in the event of an early return to the U.S.
Enrollment
Travelers must be registered in the International Travel Registry.
University Health Plans (UHP)
UHP provides the UNH international insurance plan that works in coordination with International SOS travel assistance for eligible travelers. If International SOS makes the referral and they have a billing agreement with the provider, International SOS may be able to manage payments and claims on the travelers behalf. Travelers, however, should be prepared to self-pay.

Additional Coverage Recommendations
The UNH international plan does not include coverage for flights, trip cancellation/interruption, trip extension, spouse/dependents, belongings or personal liability for activities unrelated to your UNH work or study. These plans must be purchased at an additional cost.
UNH recommends that travelers purchase trip Cancel For Any Reason/Interrupt For Any Reason coverage.
In order to get the additional “for any reason" coverage, most plans must be purchased either within 15 days of the initial trip payment (e.g., first deposit) or before making the final payment.
Follow the above link to build a customized quote based on your travel plans and how much of the cost you want to insure.
Make sure to view plan details and check boxes to add on Interrupt for Any Reason and Cancel for Any Reason coverage.
Travelers may purchase Extended Travel or Spouse/Dependent insurance coverage as a consumer product directly from International SOS.
When purchasing Extended Travel coverage, keep in mind that the UNH program includes a Sojourn Travel Benefit before and after the official program dates. Refer to the program policy for details.
For additional coverage that would include personal belongings or personal liability, you may want to research if this is included or could be added to renters' insurance, home owners insurance, credit card used to pay for trip, International Student/Teacher Identity card, or if these options are available for purchase at the Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption link above.
