New Publication - "Sibling aggression and abuse: Invisible and widespread public health problems"
The SAARA team is excited to share that our article “Sibling aggression and abuse: Invisible and widespread public health problems” was recently published in the American Journal of Public Health. We co-authored the article with our advisory board member, Nathan H. Perkins, PhD, Associate Professor of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago, who is an expert on sibling physical and emotional violence.
The article is open access, meaning that it is free to the public, and a subscription to the journal is not required to read it. In the article, we argue that sibling aggression and abuse are overlooked public health problems that negatively impact the adolescent population’s mental health. We call for sibling aggression and abuse to be considered adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) to enhance identification and response to these forms of trauma.
