Brazil, Ribeirão Preto Semester or year |
Focused studies in all aspects of music with immersion in Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. This exchange with University of São Paulo Ribeirão Preto grew out of collaborations between UNH’s and USP-RP’s Departments of Music, with lots of small group interaction with professors and Brazilian students, and participation in extra-curricular activities, including Filarmônica, Jazz Band, Grupuri (percussion group), and several choirs.
"My semester in Brazil was certainly one of the greatest experiences during my time at UNH. It had a profound impact on how I see the world as well as myself. I grew as a musician both technically and mentally. The chance to learn a new language through constant exposure was such a unique experience it developed my memory, non verbal communication skills, attention span, and listening skills in a way I never thought possible."

"Studying abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan allowed me to immerse myself in Japanese culture in ways my studies at UNH could not. The independence I gained through my exchange program gave me confidence in navigating a foreign country by myself, while the support I received both through the Global Education Center and Waseda allowed me to adjust to my new environment academically, socially, and culturally.
