Faculty, Carmela Amato-Wierda


Walt Alderman Carmela Amato-Wierda is associate professor of materials science in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at UNH. She obtained her Ph.D. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, she came to UNH in 1995. She teaches courses in materials science, including a new general education course called “The Science of Stuff.” She is the recipient of a research grant from the Air Force Office of Sponsored Research for her work on a new approach for making solar cell coatings that is faster and cheaper.
