New Map of Sun's Protective ""Bubble"" Unveiled by IBEX Team, UNH Researcher

DURHAM, N.H. -- At a noon Eastern Time media teleconference today at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) headquarters in Washington, D.C., University of New Hampshire space scientist Nathan Schwadron will participate in the unveiling of the second maps of the heliosphere produced by the Interstellar Boundary Explorer Mission (IBEX). The maps, produced by the IBEX Science Team in coordination with the UNH-based IBEX Science Operations Center (ISOC), show surprisingly rapid changes in the protective boundaries surrounding our solar system.

Family Business Owners Invited to Participate UNH Leadership Program

DURHAM, N.H. -- The Center for Family Business at the University of New Hampshire will launch its next Leadership Development Program Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.

The Leadership Development Program assisting the next generation to assume greater leadership roles in their family businesses. Attendees develop confidence, plan for the future, learn to apply new management skills to company projects and build a peer network of support.

The program is taught by Vanessa Druskat, UNH associate professor of organizational behavior and management.

World's Rivers in State of Crisis, <em>Nature</em> Report Details

DURHAM, N.H. - Researchers from the University of New Hampshire's Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space (EOS) are contributing authors of a report published in the September 30, 2010 issue of Nature. The study finds that environmental stressors like agricultural runoff, dams, irrigation, pollution, invasive species, and fishing pressure severely threaten the security of rivers serving 80 percent of the world's population and endanger the biodiversity of 65 percent of the world's river habitats.

UNH Professor's New Book Looks at Women Labor Activists in the Movies

DURHAM, N.H. - Some of the most indelible images of women in recent American film have been of working women fighting for labor reform or to expose corporate corruption. In her new book, Jennifer Borda, associate professor of communication at the University of New Hampshire, explores films with female labor activists as main protagonists, illuminating issues of gender and class while depicting the challenges of working class women.
