Contemporary New England Native American Art Exhibit at UNH Museum

DURHAM, N.H. - The University Museum in the Dimond Library at the University of New Hampshire will present an exhibit of contemporary regional Native American artists in conjunction with the conference "First Nations, Lasting Nations," which takes place Sept. 17 and Sept. 18, 2010, on the Durham campus.  

"Invisible/Visible: Emerging Contemporary New England Native American Art" opens Sept. 17, 2010, with a reception from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., and runs through Dec. 17.

UNH Receives $1M+ to Prepare Math, Science Teachers for High-Need Schools

DURHAM, N.H. - A $1,197,811 grant from the National Science Foundation will help the University of New Hampshire prepare science and mathematics teachers for work in high-need school districts. The five-year grant, from the NSF's Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program, supports the preparation of new teachers -- undergraduates and working professionals -- in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) disciplines.

UNH, Dartmouth Medical School Lead $15.4M Grant for Biomedical Research

DURHAM, N.H. -With a $15.4-million award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the University of New Hampshire, Dartmouth Medical School (DMS) and eight undergraduate institutions are forming a network to support biomedical research by faculty and students throughout New Hampshire.

DURHAM, N.H. - The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Training and Technical Assistance Program has received $3.8 million for child protection training and assistance programs for law enforcement. The program is part of the UNH Crimes against Children Research Center and a national hub for federal programs dedicated to the protection of children. 

The ICAC Training and Technical Assistance Program is a collaboration between the UNH Crimes against Children Research Center and Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) in Appleton, WI.

Active Retirement Association Hosts UNH President Sept. 14, UNH Historian Sept. 15

DURHAM, N.H.—The Active Retirement Association will host Mark W. Huddleston, president of the University of New Hampshire, at its general meeting to open the fall term Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Durham Evangelical Church. Huddleston will be renewing a practice of several of his predecessors, who spoke annually on the state of the university to the ARA, an affiliate of the university since its founding in 1982.

UNH Exhibit Celebrates Career of Jazzman Bob Wilber

DURHAM, N. H. - The University of New Hampshire's Traditional Jazz Series will celebrate its 200th concert with jazz clarinetist and soprano saxophone virtuoso Bob Wilber Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at 8 p.m. in the Johnson Theater, Paul Creative Arts Center in Durham. A jazz master on reed instruments, Wilber is a noted composer and arranger, and an ardent devotee of jazz repertory.
