Case Studies

Faculty Fellows have gathered and documented some case studies of assessments at UNH. There are two categories of case studies. The first focuses more on the process of assessment. The second focuses more on the actual results of an assessment activity.

Assessment Process:
In the summer and fall of 2002, Faculty Fellows documented examples of the use of student outcomes assessment in the form of case studies.

Assessment Results: CFAR Annual Report 2002-03
The Center for Academic Resources (CFAR) 2002-03 Annual Report includes various assessment criteria, including the results of a six-year longitudinal study comparing the academic performance of CFAR participants vs. that of non participants. See p. 4 of the report for a discussion of the study.


WSBE Surveys:
The Whittemore School of Business and Economics (WSBE) has developed surveys of graduating seniors and of alums. The results are posted below. In both cases, the WSBE faculty and administration have used the results to direct revisions in curriculum and advising.


Library Survey on Laptop Usage
Library staff recently conducted a survey to assess the effectiveness of a laptop computer loan program. Here is a link to the results:


Department of Education Assessment Plan and Results
This case study describes the process that the UNH Department of Education uses to assess learning outcomes. It includes links to the instruments used and results from some of the surveys.


Residential Life Learning Outcomes

Medical Lab Sciences Alum Survey
The MLS program has surveyed alums for several years. A description and some results are contained in this case study.
