Learn to Swim: Private Swim Lessons - Summer 2026
UNH Campus Recreation offers Private Swim Lessons (one participant) for children ages 3-13 who need individual attention, have special needs, learn better in a one-on-one environment, or have unique scheduling needs. Private lessons are 30 minutes in length and can be purchased in blocks of 4 or 8 lessons. Full payment is required at the time of enrollment. Students must be at least 3 years old at the time of enrollment to participate in Private Lessons.
Enrollment opens at 7pm on the Enrollment Open Dates below. If you are on this page prior to 7pm on that date, you may need to refresh the page. Space is limited - enroll early to guarantee your spot. Review the "How to Enroll" block below for instructions on enrolling.
Lesson scheduling preferences are asked as part of the CampDoc registration questions, not at the time of enrollment. Review the "CampDoc" block below for more information. Families must choose at least two available days/times. Weekend dates may not be available due to event or facility closures.
Once the registration questions are complete, the Swim Lesson coordinator will make initial contact via email to pair the student with an instructor and finalize the lesson schedule. This initial contact will typically take place within 7 business days of CampDoc completion. Lessons will not be scheduled until the student's CampDoc profile is 100% complete. Timely completion will ensure that lessons can begin promptly and be completed before the required end date.
All Private Lessons must be complete by Sunday, August 16. Lessons will not be held on Friday, June 19 or Saturday, July 4.
In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather, a make-up session will be scheduled. Parents/guardians will be notified via email if a lesson is canceled and rescheduled due to inclement weather.
All summer lessons are held at the UNH Outdoor Pool. Access to the pool is from the front entrance of the Hamel Recreation Center (HRC), 5 Edgewood Rd, Durham NH. Pool users must check in with welcome center staff upon entering the HRC.

Participation in Swim Lessons does not include admission to the pool for the day. Any family member(s) not taking a lesson who wish to swim and a child enrolled in a lesson who wishes to swim before or after the lesson must have a pool membership or pay the daily fee. To request a Drop or Transfer from a Youth Program, contact the program manager (info below). Please include the full name of the participant and clearly state the camp and session(s) to be adjusted. UNH Campus Recreation does not offer refunds for Swim Lessons, including for missed lessons.
