UNH doctoral candidate David Moore, a member of the Ecohydrology Lab at the UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, led research into best management practices for harvesting and producing syrup from a variety of non-maple deciduous trees native to New Hampshire.

The University of New Hampshire has announced the creation of the Hamel Honors and Scholars College, set to open in fall of 2024 following a $20 million gift from Dana Hamel.

New research from a national team of scientists, including researchers from the University of New Hampshire’s Jackson Estuarine Laboratory, found that eroded tidal marsh sites can be revitalized by strategic sediment deposits.

The University of New Hampshire will welcome eight speakers at its commencement ceremonies this May. Speakers will also be awarded honorary degrees. All of the ceremonies will take place between Friday, May 19 and Sunday, May 21, 2023, in the Whittemore Center Arena except UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law’s ceremony, which will remain in Concord’s White Park.

Alana Pettaway’s mechanical engineering degree from the University of New Hampshire landed her a job as an industrial engineer at Pratt & Whitney — while also teaching her to welcome new challenges and discover the ability to constantly redefine herself.

The University of New Hampshire was well-represented on the Union Leader’s annual 40 Under Forty award list this year, with current and former undergraduate and graduate students making up nearly one-third of the honorees recognized for making a difference in their communities and professions throughout the Granite State.
