UNH Manchester, Community College System of N.H. Celebrate New Program to Earn a Bachelor’s From an Associate Degree

The University of New Hampshire at Manchester and Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) recently celebrated the launch of their latest dual admission initiative, the Public Pathways Program, which enables New Hampshire community college students to seamlessly transition their associate degree into a bachelor’s degree program at UNH Manchester.

Brain Injury Research

Biology major Kyle Vynorius has worked closely with Psychology Professor Dr. Daniel Seichepine on a research project spanning over two years, studying the effects of mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs) on otherwise healthy college students. Vynorius recently presented their findings at a conference in Boston.

UNH Manchester Announces Staff Sergeant Ryan M. Pitts ’13 Scholarship Fund

The University of New Hampshire at Manchester held a reception last night to celebrate the establishment of the Staff Sergeant Ryan M. Pitts ’13 Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial support to students who are veterans of military service. UNH Manchester veteran students and alumni, donors to the fund, Governor Maggie Hassan, Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas and other dignitaries gathered Tuesday evening to recognize the extraordinary heroism that made Pitts, a UNH Manchester alumnus, so deserving of this honor.

English Professor Brings Experimental Writing to the Classroom and the American Reader

Seth Abramson, assistant professor of English, co-edited an annual anthology of American writing that celebrates literary pieces that push the boundaries of conventional writing, whether in style, form, syntax or even presentation. His new book is the only annual anthology of experimental writing published in the United States, and is the only “Best American”-titled anthology to accept unsolicited submissions, making it a fresh and exciting addition to the nation’s complement of literary anthologies.

Professor Kumin Brings International Immigration Policy Close to Home in New Politics & Society Class

Immigration has been a hotly debated topic for both Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls as they travel the campaign trail across New Hampshire. Once candidates move beyond the talking points, the subject reveals many complex policy questions, whether it’s how to enforce the country’s borders or the United States’ role in the Syrian refugee crisis. Similar issues were also hotly debated in 1979, when University of New Hampshire at Manchester Adjunct Professor Judith Kumin began working in the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
