The University of New Hampshire at Manchester will recognize the academic achievements of more than 130 students at the 2017 Honors Convocation on Tuesday, May 16.

One of the university’s largest academic ceremonies, Honors Convocation brings administrators, faculty, staff and students together to celebrate academic success. This year’s event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester, N.H. 

The University of New Hampshire at Manchester will celebrate the achievements of 245 graduates* at the college's 32nd annual commencement on Thursday, May 18, 2017, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester. The ceremony recognizes 193 undergraduate and 52 graduate students who have earned an associate, bachelor’s or master's degree at the University of New Hampshire’s campus in Manchester.

Thanks to the success of its ongoing fundraising efforts, the University of New Hampshire is launching a new program in the fall that guarantees all full-time, first-year New Hampshire students receiving federal Pell grants will pay no tuition to attend the university.

Experiential learning is a constant theme for the students of UNH Manchester. Michael Lang, graduate of Nashua High School South (NHSS) and recent graduate of the communication arts program, took advantage of that and worked with the UNH education program to develop a video focusing on the Humans Relations class at NHSS.

While completing his bachelor’s degree in social thought and political economy, Andrew LeFrancois discovered a passion for teaching through a service learning opportunity working with elementary students.

Each year, UNH recognizes faculty who motivate, challenge and inspire students to succeed both in and out of the classroom. This year's Excellence in Teaching award recognizes Samantha Reynolds, lecturer of chemistry. Carol Gay, adjunct instructor of communication arts, will receive the Adjunct Excellence in Teaching award. Reynolds and Gay will be presented the awards at UNH Manchester's commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 18.
  

UNH Manchester has made Pandora Mill building its home since 2015, and many wonder how the Pandora building got its nickname. The building, as well as the mills themselves, have a history that goes back several centuries, each one leaving its mark. Built in 1850 by the Manchester Print Works and the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, it was primarily responsible for dressing fabrics, spinning, and carding. It also had a picking house, still attached today, where workers would clean and sort raw wool.
