Eyes on the Tiger

New UNH research studying the Soligas tribe in India and their relationship with the endangered Bengal tiger has found that allowing the two groups to share a habitat both protects the tiger population and saves money on conservation efforts like poaching policing.

Carsey Student Plans Accessible Black Lives Matter Protest

Juliana Good, a student pursuing her masters in Public Policy at the Carsey School, is working to organize an accessible Black Lives Matter protest for those in the disabled community. Good said she wanted to organize an event after attending several protests in the Seacoast area that were not accessible. "There were no ASL interpreters, the routes were not really planned with wheelchair users in mind," she said. "Being deaf, I miss out on a lot of the speeches and the chants and everything, so I wanted to create something that was accessible to the community."

Helping His City

Sean Sutherlin ’21 is from Minnesota. He lives in a small city outside of Minneapolis, where protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in May led to rioting and looting. On the fourth day — once they felt it was safe — Sutherlin and his sister joined the march.

“When we got there it was really good to see how many people showed up to get justice for George (Floyd) and his family. It was also very sad to see how bad the damage was on some of the streets of Minneapolis,” Sutherlin says. “It looked and felt a lot different with all of the burnt buildings and looted stores.”
