Pemela Ellis

Vice Provost Enrollment Management

Pelema Ellis is the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management. His experience with national models for recruitment and the application of data analytics are key to providing vision, leadership and management for all aspects of the student-centric enrollment process including admissions, registrar and financial aid.  He came to  UNH from Great Bay Community College where he has served as president.  While there, he led a comprehensive reorganization of the college’s leadership structure and led efforts to increase student retention. Before that, Pelema was the vice provost for enrollment and strategic development at the University of Missouri. At Missouri, he led the development and launch of the university’s first strategic enrollment management committee as well as the university’s first integrated strategic enrollment management plan. Pelema also worked at Bryn Mawr College and the University of Nebraska Omaha. He received his MBA from MIT and his doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Kim DeRego

Kimberly DeRego
Associate Vice Provost Enrollment Management and Marketing

Kim DeRego has more than a decade of experience in strategic enrollment management. For the past five years, Kim has served as the associate dean of enrollment management and programs at UNH Manchester.  There she has overseen the departments of marketing, admissions, financial aid, registration, student engagement and academic advising with the goal of improving enrollment, retention and the UNH Manchester student experience.  In this role she has spearheaded numerous college-wide initiatives and has facilitated the growth of undergraduate and graduate enrollment.  She also implemented the college’s first international student recruitment effort, which resulted in significant growth of the international graduate student population at UNH Manchester.

Prior to her time at UNH, Kim served as associate dean for enrollment management at SIT Graduate Institute where she oversaw the school’s domestic and international admissions, recruiting, and financial aid teams while co-leading the school’s marketing efforts. Kim was instrumental for her leadership on many campus-wide initiatives, including the adoption and rollout of Salesforce as SIT’s enrollment management platform. In addition to spearheading data driven and innovative enrollment strategy at SIT, she led several student-centered partnerships with external institutions.

Joel Carstens

Joel Carstens
Director of Financial Aid

Joel has more than 20 years of experience assisting students with educational financing. Prior to starting at UNH in August 2016, he served in financial aid leadership roles within several aid offices, including two Ivy League institutions. In addition, Joel has student loan experience, based on his work with both the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation and Norwest Student Loans.

Kevin Lyons

Kevin Lyons
Senior Enrollment Management Data & Information Analyst

Kevin has 20 years of experience designing, conducting, reporting, and summarizing data and analytics. Kevin comes to us from Lipman Hearne, a marketing communication agency serving clients in the non-profit sector, where he lead market research projects for 15 years. He’s also worked as a data analyst serving clients in the for-profit sector including consumer packaged goods brands, print media, and financial institutions. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Business Science degree with a concentration in marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Computer Information Systems degree with a concentration in data analytics from Boston University.

Theresa Zellem

Teresa Zellem
Operations and Special Projects Manager

Teresa has 20 years of experience in office and project management within an educational setting. She started her UNH career with Business Services and more recently worked as the enrollment coordinator for the Global Education Center’s study abroad office. Some past projects included setting up a library database, on boarding electronic application and travel record systems, and streamlining a competitive scholarship process. Her focus has been on helping students and families by making the processes efficient and user-friendly. She is proud to call the Seacoast home since first coming to UNH as an undergraduate.
