UNH Program To Support Military Veterans Goes National; More Than 30 Colleges Participating In Operation Hat Trick

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire is proud to announce Operation Hat Trick (OHT), a program that first started at UNH four years ago and will now generate royalties to support respective schools and the Veteran's Administration General Post Fund, is launching nationally. Beginning Feb. 1, alumni, fans, and supporters of more than 30 colleges and universities across the country will be able to purchase officially licensed caps that support their university and our American military veterans.  

UNH Lodging Index Ticks Up in December

DURHAM, N.H. - U.S. lodging executives were more optimistic about general business conditions in December than the prior month, according to the University of New Hampshire Lodging Executives Sentiment Index (LESI) for the current month ending December 2012. The index increased from 50.1 in November 2012 to 53.8 in December 2012.

UNH students receive Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships

DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire graduate students Wan-Jean Lee and Michelle Walsh have each been awarded a John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship for 2012. Sponsored by the National Sea Grant College Program, the year-long fellowship matches current and recent graduate students with hosts in the legislative and executive branches of government.

Gov. Lynch Announces Companies Chosen for Green Launching Pad Funding

CONCORD, N.H. - Gov. John Lynch today announced the three businesses selected to participate in the next round of Green Launching Pad funding. The most recent round of funding will support businesses that help the state achieve the objectives of the ARRA-State Energy Program and N.H. Climate Action Plan, with an emphasis on green manufacturing while creating new jobs and contributing positively to the state's economy.

Expert Available to Comment on Environmental Impact of Italian Cruise Ship

DURHAM, N.H. -Nancy Kinner, professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of New Hampshire and an expert on oil spills, is available to comment on the environmental impact of the cruise liner Costa Concordia, grounded off the coast of Italy with more than 2,000 tons of oil onboard.

UNH Whittemore School Invites Businesses to Participate in Corporate Consulting Project Program

DURHAM, N.H. - The Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire invites businesses to submit corporate consulting projects to be completed by graduating MBA students.

Project proposals are due Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, and can be submitted online at http://wsbe.unh.edu/corporate-consulting-project-information. There is no fee to participate in the program, but a donation of $500 to $1,000 is requested to help offset expenses, such as student travel.

N. H. Authors Series Presents Sci-fi Writer James Patrick Kelly at the University of New Hampshire Jan. 29, 2012

DURHAM, N.H.- The N.H. Author Series, hosted by the Friends of Dimond Library at the University of New Hampshire, will present sci-fi writer James Patrick Kelly on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Dimond Library's 5th floor reading room.

Kelly's short novel, "Burn", won the Science Fiction Writers of America's Nebula Award in 2007. Kelly has won the World Science Fiction Society's Hugo Award twice: in 1996, for his novelette, "Think Like A Dinosaur," and in 2000, for his novelette, "Ten to the Sixteenth to One."
