Dear Colleagues,

I hope that your semester is off to a good start. It is hard to believe we are already a month in, and fall has arrived.

I am pleased to share that we are close to completing new contracts with all three faculty unions. Both the UNHLU-AAUP and AAUP-UNH have voted in favor of new contracts and those will be implemented subject to University System of New Hampshire board of trustees’ approval, which we will seek at their next meeting in October. As the board has already approved the terms of one of these contracts in principle, we are optimistic about board approval and quick implementation.

The response was wonderful last semester when I invited you and your family to be our guests at a theatrical production or athletics event so I’m doing it again. Please choose one of the opportunities below and enjoy the talents of our student artists and athletes.

  • Our Theatre and Dance department is presenting “Anne of Green Gables” (Oct. 5-9) and “Bye Bye Birdie” (Nov. 2-6). Performance information can be found on the ticketing website ; select the “UNH Employee” ticket option for each ticket reserved, for a maximum order of four (4) tickets. Enter Coupon Code “UNHTogether” at the checkout page to apply discount. Coupon can only be used once per order. Questions can be directed to the arts department ticketing email
  • UNH Athletics is competing in a variety of events over the Veterans Day holiday weekend. Select up to four (4) tickets for one (1) event. Questions can be directed to unh.tickets@unh.edu or (603) 862-4000.

In closing, I want to share two great pieces of news the university recently received. October is National Campus Sustainability Month and the 2022 Campus Sustainability Index ranked UNH #1 in the investment and finance category and UNH is also a top performer in a number of other categories. As I have often said, we have a great deal to be proud of in our commitment to sustainability. We also have a lot to be proud of when it comes to the commitment of everyone to keeping our campuses safe. SafeWise’s Safest College Towns in America report recently ranked Durham #2.

With my warmest wishes for the fall,

James W. Dean Jr.

President
