Dr. Easton White is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Hampshire, where he leads the Quantitative Marine Ecology Lab. He conducts research and teaches at the intersection of mathematics, data science, and biology. A first-generation college student who began his academic career at a community college, Dr. White now mentors the next generation of scientists through innovative teaching and accessible quantitative training. His current work focuses on optimizing environmental monitoring programs, understanding the role of extreme events in ecosystems, and modeling socio-ecological dynamics. He was recently awarded an NSF CAREER award for his research on environmental monitoring and data science education. In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. White serves on editorial boards, develops graduate-level training programs in ecological data science, and leads international collaborations on marine and fisheries systems.
