2025-2026 Charges
For Spring 2026:
Conduct a broad evaluation of the landscape of faculty support across the institution. As part of this work, the committee should:
- Identify the range of issues, opportunities, and needs related to faculty resources, mentoring, and professional development.
- Assess which areas fall most appropriately within the committee’s purview, distinguishing the committee’s focus from other faculty-led efforts, standing committees, or administrative initiatives.
- Prioritize the areas where committee attention, recommendations, or future charges can have the greatest impact on faculty success and wellbeing.
By the end of the semester, the committee shall report its findings and recommendations to the Agenda Committee. These recommendations will be used to inform the development of next year’s committee charges and to help clarify the ongoing role and purpose of the Faculty Resources and Development Committee.
In addition to the broader scope-setting work, there are two urgent items that require Faculty Senate oversight and fall squarely under this committee’s mission. First, is the provost’s plan to reestablish a Center for Faculty Development and second, the upcoming deadline for Title II compliance. Therefore, the committee is charged this year with the following specific tasks:
- Engage with the Provost’s Office on efforts to reestablish faculty development services to ensure they meet the needs in the areas of resources, mentoring, and professional development. As part of this effort, create a survey to identify the training needs and specific areas of concern for Faculty. The survey will also inform next year’s Senate charges to this committee.
- Collaborate with the Office of Community, Civil Rights, and Compliance to clearly communicate the expectations and timeline for faculty compliance with Title II. The committee should report to the Faculty Senate on compliance requirements and available guidance for faculty. Provide feedback on the development of additional guidance for faculty if necessary.
Note: The Agenda Committee may modify the charges to standing committees and standing committees can request the Agenda Committee to modify the charges at any point during the academic year.
