Because of generous support by donors like you, UNH continues to be able to increase access and retention opportunities for students, support related research and education, engage in community outreach, and prepare members of our community to function successfully in a diverse and global market.  


UNH Community and Belonging Strategic Initiatives Fund

  • Supports campus wide initiatives, including, but not limited to education, workshops, and research that support inclusive practices and community well-being.
  • Supports faculty and staff professional development, hiring initiatives, and other campus wide efforts that support aspects of well-being as outlined in the UNH Strategic Plan.
  • Assists faculty in developing curricula specific to the needs of first-generation college students and student veterans; and building inclusive curricula with representations of diverse cultures and traditions.
  • Assists staff in developing inclusive programming highlighting the histories and cultures of various demographic groups.
  • Assists staff in developing professional development opportunities on classroom pedagogy, societal concerns, institutional concerns, inclusive practices, and other awareness building that fosters a respectful and mindful campus community where everyone can thrive.

Wanda Mitchell Recruitment & Retention Fund

Wanda Mitchell

Wanda S. Mitchell served as Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Inclusive Excellence at UNH, where she provided leadership for developing and sustaining programs, policies and initiatives to recruit, retain, review, and advance faculty at the University. Dr. Mitchell led and supported efforts to create a welcoming academic environment for faculty, staff, and students of diverse backgrounds and experiences, and directed the University’s faculty mentoring and professional development program.

The purpose of the fund is to support recruitment and retention efforts by the Office of Community, Civil Rights and Compliance in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, Enrollment Services, and the Division of Student Life to build and maintain an inclusive community for all students and employees.

  • Provides book scholarships and tuition assistance for low- or lower-income students.
  • Assists with overall efforts to recruit and retain UNH community members.

Bill Kidder Fund

Kidder Funding

The purpose of the Kidder Fund is to provide programmatic support that will enhance understanding of people whose sexual orientation and/or gender identity differs from the majority in our culture and to demonstrate the constructive contributions this important segment of our society is making. Kidder Fund Grants are available to support programs, research, events and projects that fulfill the purpose of the Kidder Fund and are available to all faculty, staff, and students regardless of their identities.

Bill Kidder Awards

Do you know a person or organization that promotes empowerment and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people?

Kidder Fund Awards

  • $1,500 scholarship to students
  • $1,000 professional development funding for staff and faculty
  • Pink Triangle Certificates for Groups/organization.

The awards seek to honor those who, through their scholarship, leadership, or outstanding efforts, foster greater understanding of sexual orientation and gender expression at the University of New Hampshire.

William "Bill" Kidder Class of '67 and '72G, devoted most of his adult life to UNH.  After earning a BA in political science and an MS in history at UNH, he spent his professional career serving as associate dean of student affairs.

The Bill Kidder Awards are available to all faculty, staff, and students regardless of their identities.
