Slow Flow: New Wind Tunnel is Largest of Its Type

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire is now home to a wind tunnel that is the largest of its type in the world.

At 300 feet long, the new Flow Physics Facility (FPF) is the world's largest scientific quality boundary-layer wind tunnel facility. It will help engineers and scientists better understand the dynamics of turbulent boundary layers, informing the aerodynamics of situations such as atmospheric wind over the ocean, the flow of air over a commercial airplane or of sea water over a submarine.

UNH Hosts Conference on School Bullying Dec. 3

DURHAM, N.H. -- The incidence of teen and pre-teen bullying continues to be a problem across the United States in schools and playgrounds in urban, suburban, and rural communities as well as online.

University of New Hampshire Professional Development and Training, in collaboration with the UNH Justice Studies Program, will host a one-day conference on "School Bullying: Issues and Strategies," Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, to look at the issues involved and provide strategies for intervention, prevention, and family support.

UNH Institute on Disability's Joan Beasley Receives National Award

UNH Survey Center: Lynch and Stephen in Tight Race for NH Governor

DURHAM, N.H. - Governor John Lynch has seen his once formidable lead over Republican challenger John Stephen shrink in the final weeks of the campaign. Most voters have now made up their mind who to support.

In the final WMUR/UNH election poll, 49 percent of likely voters say they will vote for Lynch, 41 percent prefer Stephen, 2 percent favor Libertarian John Babiarz, 1 percent prefer some other candidate, and 7 percent are undecided.

DURHAM, N.H. - Republican Kelly Ayotte is in a strong position to defeat Democrat Paul Hodes in the race for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire. Most voters have now made up their minds who to support in this race.

In the latest WMUR/UNH New Hampshire Election Poll, 54 percent of New Hampshire likely voters say they will vote for Ayotte, 36 percent back Hodes, 1 percent say they will vote for Libertarian candidate Ken Blevens, 1 percent will vote for Independent Chris Booth, and 8 percent are undecided.
