UNH Hosts Outdoor Jobs and Camp Fair Feb. 17

DURHAM, N.H. - Want to work outdoors this summer? Come to the University of New Hampshire's annual Outdoor Jobs and Camp Fair Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Granite State Room of the Memorial Union Building at UNH. More than 20 employers representing non-profit outdoor and environmental agencies, commercial outfitters, summer camps and international travel companies will attend this year's fair to recruit summer and full-time employees. Some representatives conduct on-the-spot interviews.

UNH Survey Center: Obama Approval Rating Remains Unchanged in New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. -- More New Hampshire adults continue to disapprove of President Barack Obama's job performance than approve. Obama's handling of the economy and health care continue to drag down his popularity.

These findings are based on the latest WMUR Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. Five hundred twenty (520) randomly selected New Hampshire adults were interviewed by telephone between Jan. 27 and Feb. 6, 2011. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 4.3 percent.

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire has launched a new major that reflects the region's agricultural landscape and the growing appetite for local, sustainable food, products and services. The major, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, combines plant, animal, and environmental sciences with related topics such as nutrition, forestry, aquaculture, and business disciplines such as entrepreneurship and marketing. With a high degree of flexibility to address students' unique goals and needs, the major offers both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees.

UNH Survey Center: Little Support for Repeal of Gay Marriage; Support for Parental Notification

DURHAM, N.H. -- New Hampshire adults favor passage of a bill that would require minors to notify their parents before they could get an abortion. New Hampshire, including Republicans, is largely pro-choice. There is little support for repealing the recently passed law that legalized same-sex marriage in New Hampshire.

DURHAM, N.H. - With Valentine's Day less than a week away, millions of men will be in search of just the right gift for their sweetie. According to a shopping behavior expert, more than anything else, men want to be sure that what they buy their sweetie will not be rejected.

Nelson Barber, associate professor of hospitality management at the University of New Hampshire, says men are most concerned with purchasing a gift that has the least possibility of rejection by their sweetie. And it's no surprise that in the minds of men, that gift is jewelry.

Expert: Roof Collapses Predictable in Record Snowy Winter

DURHAM, N.H. - A structural engineering professor at the University of New Hampshire is available to discuss two hazards of this season's record snowfalls: roof collapses and ice dams.
