Researchers test new aquaculture method

Looking for local shrimp? It’s hard to come by here in New England, where warming waters are driving the decline of dwindling stocks and have forced the fishery’s closure over the last couple of years. Recently, regulators declared the Gulf of Maine closed to shrimp fishing through 2021. But there’s hope on the horizon: UNH researchers are testing a shrimp aquaculture method that could put a fresh, local option of this seafood staple back in your fishmonger’s case.
