Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students –
My first semester at UNH has really flown by! As Jan and I said in our holiday video, we deeply appreciate the warm welcome you have provided to us in our first few months. New Hampshire is already beginning to feel like home.
I also wanted to thank you for your amazing response to the survey we recently sent out. We had over 3,000 responses! Your thoughts are enormously helpful as we set a strategic direction for the next few years at UNH. Speaking of which, I will be giving a talk about our strategic priorities on January 24 at 1 p.m. in the Granite State Room in the MUB. I hope that you will join me.
I recently finished reading Varina by Charles Frazier, whom you may know from his best-seller Cold Mountain. Varina is a fictionalized account of the life of Varina Davis, wife of Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy. Frazier writes beautifully, and the (true) details of her life before, during and after her marriage to Davis are intriguing.
Please accept my warmest wishes for the holiday season and the New Year. Whatever you celebrate, I hope it brings you joy and peace.
