I am pleased to share that after a national search we will welcome Allison Rich as our new director of athletics, effective July 25. Allison comes to us from her alma mater, Princeton University, where she currently serves as the senior associate director of athletics/senior woman administrator for a program which excels nationally while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and student-athlete welfare. Prior to joining Princeton, her collegiate athletics administrative experience spanned large state and small private schools in multiple Division I conferences and levels, along with the NCAA national office.
At Princeton, Allison was a member of the executive management team for an NCAA Division I department that consists of 38 sports and more than 1,000 student-athletes. She managed, mentored and provided leadership for all coaches and staff while supervising 12 athletic teams, including the Tigers’ Division I FCS football program. In her various roles at Loyola University Chicago, University of the Pacific, California State University Fullerton and Florida State University, Allison gained expertise in many areas including strategic planning, risk management, fundraising, Title IX oversight, resource allocation, marketing, crisis planning and revenue generation. Allison earned her bachelor’s degree from Princeton, law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and doctorate in educational administration from the University of the Pacific. She currently serves as president of the Sports Lawyers Association and vice chair of the NCAA Division I Infraction Appeals Committee.
Thank you to the search committee—chaired by Marcel Vernon—for its support and work to identify a strong pool of qualified candidates. Please join me in welcoming Allison to the UNH community and thanking Marty Scarano for his many years of service to the athletics department.
