Over the last two years I have been very proud of how you rallied to support our students, our state and each other in the face of ever changing and often overwhelming circumstances.
Thanks to the hard work our university community has done over the past few years to address our budget challenges, I am pleased to share that effective Jan. 1, 2022, employees* will receive an across-the-board salary increase of 1.5%. I hope that our budget allows us to offer larger salary increases (and a return of merit increases) in future years.
I am also happy to announce that there will be no cost increase for your medical/prescription drug, dental and vision plans for 2022. We were able to achieve this through the long-term financial improvements from prior years’ changes, as well as improved medical costs experienced by our employees and their families.
In addition, we will delay the planned 2% reduction in our maximum 403b retirement match for an additional year. UNH will maintain its maximum retirement match at 10% for employees hired before Jan. 1, 2021. The maximum match will stay at 8% for those hired after Dec. 31, 2020, and continue to apply to all new hires moving forward.
And finally, in recognition of your hard work, I am announcing a one-time paid holiday closure for benefited employees the day before Thanksgiving. In addition to the planned closure November 25-26, all three UNH campuses will be closed Wednesday Nov. 24, 2021. Those working in support of our students will be paid holiday time.
