Purpose
The University Commission on Community, Inclusion, and Belonging is formed around a common bond and a commitment to challenging stereotypes, eradicating systemic inequalities and oppression, and creating a campus climate of respect for all students and employees. It provides support of institutional efforts around community building, well-being, inclusion, and belonging for all. It recognizes diversity as a source of excellence, enrichment, and strength and its efforts are grounded in mutual respect and civil discourse.
Mission
The University Commission on Community, Inclusion, and Belonging is supported by the Associate Vice President for Community, Civil Rights, and Compliance (OC3) and has been charged with the following:
- Create working groups and committees involved in awareness-building programming
- Create and submit proposals for services, policy changes and practices that build safer, more welcoming, universally accessible learning, working and living environments free of physical, programmatic and attitudinal barriers
- Monitor campus for both discriminatory incidents and evidence of progress, sharing issues/concerns with the Office of Community, Civil Rights, and Compliance and recommending action(s) to them and other UNH governance groups.
- Act as a resource for action items as identified by the President, the Associate Vice President for Community, Civil Rights, and Compliance, and/or other UNH governance groups.
