Master Sergeant Matthew Deister is a career Armor Crewman in the United States Army, born in Clearwater, Florida, and raised in Raymond, Maine. With over 20 years of service, MSG Deister has built a career centered on armored warfare and tactical leadership. He completed two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and has served in a variety of strategic assignments across Syria, Egypt, Kuwait, and South Korea. He has served in many operational positions such as Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. He has also served as an Army Recruiter in Scarborough, Maine, and an Observer Controller/Trainer at the National Training Center Fort Irwin, CA.

He is a graduate of Airborne School, Air Assault School, Recipient of the Order of Saint George (Bronze) Medallion, and the Army Recruiter Course. His Non-Commissioned Officer military education includes Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader course, Maneuver Senior Leader Course, and the Master Leader Course. Civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Post University and is currently a student at the University of New Hampshire studying his Master of Science in Project Management.

MSG Deister is married to his lovely wife Cara Deister. Together they have 2 daughters and 2 sons Ella, Ainsley, Knox, and Rhys.
