CPT Matthew T. Moher is a native of Manchester, New Hampshire and graduated from Manchester High School - West in 2009 and Plymouth State University in 2015 (Public Administration). CPT Moher enlisted in the New Hampshire Army National Guard (NHARNG) in 2011 as a 13M (HIMARS Crew Member) and served with A-Battery 3-197th FA as an SMP Cadet and later commissioned as an Infantry Officer through the University of New Hampshire Wildcat BN ROTC program. His first duty assignment was at Fort Carson, Colorado. While there, he served in a variety of leadership positions including Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, deploying with his unit to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel 2018-2019. After serving at Fort Carson, CPT Moher attended the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (MCCC) at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Following graduation from MCCC, CPT Moher completed a broadening assignment at the 4th Ranger Training Battalion, where he served as a Ranger Instructor and as the 2023 Best Ranger Competition (BRC OIC). During this assignment, he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration through Columbus State University. CPT Moher was subsequently assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he assumed command of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Following Company Command, he deployed as the Joint Visitors Bureau (JVB) Lead for Operation Inherent Resolve. He has served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS) at the University of New Hampshire since June 2026.

CPT Moher’s deployments include Operation Freedom’s Sentinel 2018-2019 (Afghanistan) and Operation Inherent Resolve 2025-2026 (Iraq and Jordan). He has earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge (Jumpmaster), Air Assault Badge, and the Basic Army Instructor Badge.

CPT Moher’s military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, Ranger School, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course (RSLC), Advanced Situational Awareness Course, Stryker Leaders Course, and the Jumpmaster Course. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous awards to include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

CPT Moher is married to Mrs. Brittany C. Moher (Hunt), a fellow 2015 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. They have a daughter, Adeline R. Moher, a son, Salvatore T. Moher, and a dog Macie.
