Vision 2030: A Roadmap for Science & Engineering

The National Science Board report, Vision 2030, lays out a roadmap for the U.S. to remain preeminent in science and engineering. It identifies threats to the U.S. science and engineering (S&E) enterprise on which the health, security, and economic prosperity of Americans depend.

Vision 2030 asks:

  • Where will the U.S. scientific and engineering (S&E) enterprise be in 10 years?
  • What actions do the U.S. government, academic institutions like the University of New Hampshire, and industry need to take so that the U.S. continues to lead in innovation in 2030?
    in 10 years?

The report also offers a roadmap for how the U.S. can reinvent aspects of its S&E enterprise to remain preeminent, with calls to action in four key areas: Practice of Science and Engineering, Talent, Partnerships, and Infrastructure.

In this talk, Dr. Victor McCrary, vice chair of the National Science Board (NSB), shared insights with the UNH community into the NSB’s Vision 2030 report.
