About the Research Office
The Research Office at UNH provides leadership and services to support research and scholarly work, facilitates cooperation with businesses, and communicates the scope and impact of UNH research.
Research Office Support Units
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) works to assure safe and healthful environments for all segments of the campus population through programs of information and education, review and monitoring, technical consultation and provision of direct services. OEHS is also responsible for developing programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations, and campus policies on environmental health and safety.
Research Computing and Instrumentation (RCI) provides computational and networking support to the UNH sponsored research community and conducts research and testing to facilitate this mission. RCI also offers direct and easy access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for both research and educational purposes.
Research Development & Communications (RDC) helps faculty and other researchers develop strategies and build skills for grant seeking; facilitates development of multidisciplinary and institution-wide proposals; coordinates UNH responses to special funding and award programs; and coordinates communication and recognition of UNH research and discovery activities to the general public, UNH, and the business community.
Research Integrity Services administers UNH’s program for the protection of human subjects in research and the Institutional Review Board (IRB); administers UNH’s program for the humane care and use of vertebrate animals, and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC); manages UNH’s responsible conduct of research and scholarly activity program; assists the OSVPR with administering UNH’s financial conflict of interest in research program; and provides consultation to UNH faculty regulatory groups.
The Office for Research Partnerships and Commercialization (ORPC) advocates for, manages, and promotes UNH's intellectual property; promotes partnerships between UNH and the business community; and is responsible for licensing UNH technologies and creating start-up companies based on innovations created at UNH. ORPC also hosts the InterOperability Laboratory and the NH Innovation Research Center.
Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) helps prepare and is the authorized UNH entity to submit proposals to external sponsors. SPA negotiates and accepts awards on behalf of UNH; manages post-award sponsored programs finance and administration; and promotes accountablilty and compliance with Federal, State, sponsor, and UNH rules and regulations.
