Please join me in recognizing this year’s Faculty Excellence award winners, members of our talented faculty who have distinguished themselves in their disciplines and in their work at the University of New Hampshire in 2009. The respect and admiration conferred on these worthy recipients by their students, colleagues, and professional collaborators both on and beyond campus speaks to their dedication, their vision, their knowledge, and their genuine passion for scholarship.
This year’s recipients are fine representatives of the breadth and depth of the UNH mission. From shaping the worldview of campus’ youngest residents to modeling various countries’ greenhouse gas emissions to describing the outer boundaries of the solar system, these faculty members demonstrate the best of teaching, research, and engagement. Across the board, these individuals’ scholarly interests manifest in real-world ideas and actions that matter—we are a better university, part of a better world, because of them.
The accomplishments of our award winners represent not only these individuals’ efforts. They also reflect the important contributions of a wide range of faculty. It is an honor to be associated with the exceptional scholars, teachers, and mentors whose work we recognize this year. I am sure you will enjoy learning more about each of them.
