Business Leaders Discuss Going Green at UNH CEO Forum<br />May 6

DURHAM, N.H. - Tom Sullivan, president of Sullivan Construction, and Scott Albert, Northeast regional manager of GDS Associates, will discuss how to identify opportunities to implement energy efficient improvements to businesses at the next University of New Hampshire CEO Forum Thursday, May 6, 2010.

UNH ""Smash &amp; Wrecker"" Robot Takes on Competitors at RoboGames April 23

DURHAM, N.H. - The microwave didn't stand a chance.

It was no match for Smash & Wrecker, 205 pounds of slicing, pounding robotic destruction created by six University of New Hampshire engineering students as their senior capstone project. To prepare for the battlebot's debut at the international RoboGames competition in San Francisco next week, the electrical and computer engineering majors put Smash & Wrecker to the test in a Kingsbury Hall parking lot with the discarded microwave serving as its scrimmage partner.

Bobcats Increasing in N.H.; UNH Researchers Probe Why

DURHAM, N.H. - Although their tufted ears and charming spots belie their ferocity, bobcats put the "wild" into wildcat.

Now, as sightings of these elusive creatures become more common in New Hampshire, researchers at the University of New Hampshire - home of the Wildcats - are working to understand them better. UNH professor of wildlife ecology John Litvaitis leads a team of UNH scientists that has partnered with New Hampshire Fish & Game Department on a four-year study to learn how many bobcats the state has and where they're roaming.

UNH Professor Contributes to New Book Exploring Torah Through Queer Lens

DURHAM, NH - Each week, millions of Jews listen to a portion of the Torah read aloud, a tradition that has provided interpretation and commentary of the Hebrew Bible for centuries. Following on this ancient tradition, "Torah Queeries: Weekly Commentaries on the Hebrew Bible" brings together some of the world's leading rabbis, scholars, and writers, including Marla Brettschneider, professor of political science and women's studies at the University of New Hampshire, to interpret the Torah through a "bent lens."

UNH, Partners in Northeast Share $1.4M Flood Planning Grant

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire's GRANIT program is part of a diverse consortium of stakeholders from New England and New York that has been awarded $1.4 million in United States Geological Survey funding to collect high resolution light detection and ranging (LIDAR) topographic data for coastal areas in the region.
