Nicholas Mian

Assistant Professor

Dr. Mian is a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts and  joined the University of New Hampshire--Manchester campus in 2015 as an assisant professor of psychology.  He also holds a joint appointment as adjunct assistant professor at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) at Boston University. He also provides psychotherapy services for children and families in his own private practice. He completed his doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Massachusetts--Boston. His clinical training has focused on outpatient child and family psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing in children. 

Dr. Mian's research focuses on understanding anxiety in young children and how such knowledge can inform the design and implementation of early intervention and prevention programs. It investigates the presentation and developmental course for anxiety symptoms in young children. Dr. Mian is also interested in developing strategies to enhance parent engagement in prevention programs in high-risk communities.

Dr. Mian is currently developing and implementing a training program for pediatric residents to improve the early identification of childhood anxiety disorders in primary care.
