Tonya Evans

Professor of Law

Tonya Evans is an expert in copyright law, trusts and estates law, and entertainment law. Her scholarship explores the intersection of intellectual property and trusts and estates law, as well as the impact of new technology and new forms of artistic expression on copyright law.

She joined the faculty on July 1, 2017. Prior to that time, she served as associate professor of law and associate dean of inclusion & equity at Widener University Commonwealth Law School. 

Also a published author and poet, Professor Evans authored an award-winning series of legal reference guides for writers and publishing industry professionals that was chosen by Writer’s Digest Book Club as a club selection. She is a sought-after speaker who has presented to numerous groups on publishing law and intellectual property law, among other topics (ex: issues of gender and race in sports law; innovation and entrepreneurship).
