Dante Scala, professor of political science at the University of New Hampshire and a fellow at the Carsey School of Public Policy, recently appeared on NHPR to discuss how the state of Nevada has begun taking steps to challenge New Hampshire's first in the nation primary status. People outside of New Hampshire have continued to say that New Hampshire demographics no longer represent the nation's and that a different state such as Nevada may be a better indicator. Scala agreed, saying "New Hampshire is 90% White and, in Nevada, the state is about 50% White, about a quarter Hispanic, and 10% African American so there is definitely more racial diversity in Nevada than there is here in New Hampshire."
