For the second year in a row, UNH geography students won the Geography Bowl contest at the annual conference of the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Geographical Society (NESTVAL), which is a regional division of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). This year’s conference was held at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire.

The contest is a geography trivia competition for students, which starts with a round-robin tournament culminating in a head-to-head match between the final two teams. The winning UNH team members are Morgan Beatty ‘20, Stephen Geis ‘20, Michael Harris ‘22 and Ben Montgomery ‘22. Jennifer Brewer, associate professor of geography, was the organizer.

UNH students have taken part in this competition for 11 years, placing second twice, and winning last year for the first time.

The highest scoring students from all of the teams are invited to join a NESTVAL team to compete against the other AAG regions at the national conference in the spring. Harris qualified and has been invited to the World Geography Bowl in Washington, D.C.
