UNH students cheer at commencement.

It’s that time of year again: Spring is in the air; the weather is getting warmer; and graduation is right around the corner.

This year’s commencement will be held in the new Wildcat Stadium. For the last 10 years, it has been held at Memorial Field and, prior to 2006, in Cowell Stadium. Completed this past September, Wildcat Stadium will better accommodate the 20,000 graduates and guests expected at the event.

"The move to the stadium seemed natural," says Jennifer Woodside, director of university ceremonies and events. "It will make for a much better experience for graduates and their families and friends."

Guests will have ready access to restrooms, food vendors, gift shops and first-aid stations — things that had to be “built in” or brought to Memorial Field.

Commencement is set for May 20 at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine. In the event of poor weather, there will be an indoor simulcast at Lundholm Gymnasium, which is adjacent to the stadium.

Guests will be directed to park in areas around the stadium, with special parking for guests with disabilities. A shuttle service will run from Boulder Field, weather permitting, Lot A and the West Edge Lot.
